In the world of the old Norse, mankind inhabits the realm of Midgard, which is one of nine connected to the World Tree Yggdrasil. This complex, little known, and sometimes overlooked spiritual tradition is rich in teaching, gods and demigods, and all manner of mystical entities. In their stories are contained timeless wisdom that gave them an understanding of the world and their place.
So why can’t we? Let’s head down that path and try, but first, we need to find out how. I know just the place.
Private Rune Cast - Using Ancient Symbols in Divination
From the earliest writings of the oral traditions we begin to understand the Runes. Odin, the All Father, sacrificed greatly to gain the 24 stones, each with its own distinct marking, and he learned how to use them. Over time the number and shapes of some of the Runes has changed for various reasons. Still, the original 24, the Elder Futhark as the set is known, is regarded as the most pure.
These are the Runes that I use to remember what our ancestors believed about their places in the web of life.
First we have to make our own Runes, from wood we have cut, and do so one at a time to spend some time with that Rune to see how it feels, what it tells you, what it can mean. The good news is I have done that already.
This is where you come in. What do you think the Runes would say to you? Can you expand your awareness to allow the Runes in?
If so, here is how a Yggdrasil cast works …
I, the rune caster, do not need or want to know what it is the person for which the cast is given is asking of the Runes. Over the course of the divination, I will comment briefly on possible meanings of the relationship between a cast rune and the realm to which it is drawn. Once the nine realms are complete
I will convey what I see, but do not know the question asked.
Afterwards, the recipient can draw their own conclusions from what has been presented. If they would like, they can share with me as much as they like on the ceremony. We can also discuss a written account of how the Runes presented themselves and possible meanings.
Rune Work Mentoring
I work with individuals in creating, learning, charging, and using their own set of Runes. Additionally, we can dig deeper into the Runes and their connection to the Nine Realms of the Norse Tradition and the major and minor deities.
Testimonies ...
"I had such a great reading with Steve. It was so magical and so deep in the tradition of the ancient Norse culture. I got clear information that was so helpful to me about a situation in which I have been ‘stumbling’. I highly recommend this experience if you are seeking a deeper wisdom. Big love..."
"Had an amazing and uplifting and surprisingly literal Rune Reading with Steve Patterson this snowy morn. Great weather for dipping into Norse divination too."
"You said several things that touched my heart, that brought me in direct contact with truths my soul resonated with. I found it quite comforting to spend time with you. I loved your comments about touching the sand repeatedly and altering the conditions - how negativity can gradually transfer to my hand and become harder to remove.
"I thought about some of the times in my life when I chose to become involved in situations when it would have been more healing to remain an observer. I think that it is easy for our ego to get involved in circumstances and believe that we must do something to alter events, that it is our job to do so. But more often than not it is probably not our job or place to intervene - you said it well when you spoke of helping to create a place of readiness but not telling someone what to see or do. "
I too believe that our work to heal ourselves involves removing all the layers and coming into ourselves and recognizing who we truly are." KD
